Rethinking Behavior: Trauma…the Brain Changer
In the Rethinking Behavior Series, participants will be asked to rethink how they view behavior and begin to see it as an attempt to get a need met. With this in mind, participants will have the opportunity to consider how to make changes to their current practices and structures to better meet the needs of their students through a variety of approaches. It has been found that ongoing stress or involvement in traumatic events can have significant implications on the brain’s make up. These changes to the brain can lead to difficulties in a student’s ability to manage emotions in the school setting. During this session, participants will gain a deep understanding of the way trauma impacts the brain and how best to prevent and de-escalate the behaviors that are a result of these changes.
