Rethinking Behavior: Supporting Crisis Level Behaviors in your School
In the Rethinking Behavior Series, participants will be asked to rethink how they view behavior and to begin to see it as an attempt to get a need met. With this in mind, participants will have the opportunity to consider how to make changes to their current practices and structures to better meet the needs of their students through a variety of approaches. Often times when a student with a disability exhibits extreme behaviors in the school setting, there can be serious implications on staff morale and even mindset about that student’s continued involvement in school programming. In this session, participants will work to change how they view these students through the development of thoughtful school wide crisis plans, student behavior/crisis plans, and ongoing engagement of families and service providers.
